Covid 19 Statement

The health, safety and well-being of residents, visitors and staff is paramount, and we can assure you that your priorities regarding safety, care, cleanliness, and enjoyment are ours too.

We take this responsibility very seriously and as such, we have implemented robust infection control measures in line with Government and PHW (Public Health Wales) advice to ensure the safety of everyone who visits, lives and works within our home.

These measures include but are not limited to:

  • Wearing PPE

  • Regular testing and temperature checking

  • Vaccinating and offering booster vaccines to residents and team

  • Enhanced cleaning

  • COVID-19 training

Our visiting arrangements are detailed below, however if you have any questions regarding this, or our response to Covid 19 - please contact us

Visits will continue in our Garden Lounge, Outdoors, Sunshine room or residents own room (subject to risk assessment and individual circumstances). Please email manager@saintdavidscare.com to arrange your visit.

Testing/Self Declaration
All visitors to St David’s must:

  • Produce evidence of a negative LFT result (within last 24 hours) OR take an LFT on arrival at St David’s and gain a negative result before entering the home. Please register your LFT test online using our UON (unique organisation reference number) which is 10185700

  • Complete our updated self- declaration form (please click here to download a copy) either prior to visit or upon arrival. Hard copies will also be available at reception.

PPE/Masks

  • All visitors must wear fresh masks upon arrival to the home (cloth/homemade masks are not acceptable) if you are exempt, please contact us to discuss this so the relevant risk assessments can be undertaken.

  • Masks are to be worn when walking through the home if having indoor/room visit but can be removed once sitting down in a resident’s room or designated visiting room.

  • Masks to remain on if in close contact to potential Covid-19 positive individual (e.g. known positive contact/known positive LFD or PCR).

  • Masks are not required for outdoor visits.

Visits during an Outbreak

  • Each resident can nominate 1 essential visitor.

  • Residents can change their essential visitor but not on a regular basis.

  • Essential visitors can continue to visit a home under an outbreak situation as long as the visitor or resident is not positive.

  • Essential visitors can visit whilst the resident is in self-isolation following a hospital stay.

External Visits (e.g. residents visiting venues outside of the care setting such as a large event, relative/friends home etc.)

  • All visits out will be risk assessed with the resident

  • Isolation is not required for people following an external visit. This includes longer visits such as overnight stays in private homes. If residents have attended a large event advice on isolation requirements will be discussed with local EHOs.

  • Lateral flow device testing on return to a home is only now needed in limited circumstances e.g. attending large events.

  • Transport arrangements will need careful consideration such as if residents use public transport. National rules apply on minibuses and similar vehicles.

  • Friends and family members collecting residents in car should minimise passengers. Ideally the driver only with the resident using the back seat and open windows if tolerated.

Please be assured we are following all guidance and advice provided by our Local Authority/Health Board, Public Health Wales and the Welsh Government. All our infection control policies, procedures and all other measures are under constant review at this time to ensure the high level of care and support that we provide continues during this difficult time.

We are also able to facilitate skype/zoom calls to all residents’ friends and family, please contact us at manager@saintdavidscare.com if you wish to utilise the video call services. If you have any questions or concerns please do contact us either via email or by telephoning 01745 353621.

Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
